Psychotherapy for Individuals, Couples, Families, Groups
When thinking about your life have you ever wondered:
How did I get here?
Where am I going?
Am I on the right path?
Many of my clients ask these questions when they find themselves stuck. They feel frustrated, hopeless and some desperate to figure out what they are doing that keeps them from being happy or fulfilled. It seems no matter how hard they try, they keep facing blocks, rejection or choices that turn out to be wrong.
As an EMDR specialist (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) I find getting to the core of a client's issues is not difficult. During the process of listening to their various stories of disappointment and failure I ask them what they dreamed of being as a child. Although the answers are different, the attitudes are usually the same. They dismiss those dreams with laughter or amusement saying how crazy those dreams were and how impossible it was to take them seriously. Upon exploration we find such wishes are not necessarily crazy nor impossible and, in many cases, even worthy of exploring now as adults.
I believe we are all born with an unconscious knowledge of what our paths should be. Most of us ignore that "knowing" or are directed away from that knowledge for various reasons. However, there are times when some find themselves exactly where they are meant to be with no idea how they got there. There seems to be a little voice within us that is determined to be heard regardless of how strongly one silences it.
If you feel you have missed your calling, or are wondering what to do with your life read on. In particular parents can learn how to help their children realize their heart's desire if they are alert to the clues their children inevitably present.
