INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

I incorporate a variety of modalities from therapies such as  Psychodynamic, EMDR, Somatic Experience, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioral, and Trauma Resourcing Model in order to fit the unique needs of each individual client. Sessions range from one, two or three times a week, depending upon each clients’ needs.

 

MARRIAGE, FAMILY AND COUPLES THERAPY

In order to begin to heal a fractured relationship, we have to change old behavior and thinking patterns and replace them with healthy ones that benefit each partner and the relationship itself. The inability to communicate successfully so that each partner understands the other is essential for a relationship to grow.  Awareness of how you communicate offers insights into misinterpretations that lead to conflicts.

CAREER ISSUES

Having been a Producer in the entertainment industry I learned that many of the stresses one experiences in such an intense industry can be handled through mature and healthy communication.  Learning how to stand up for oneself without fear is necessary to survive.

 

EMDR THERAPY

I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and Consultant.  EMDR is a therapy that focuses on the emotions that were experienced early in life due to traumatic events, big or small., and have been stored in the unconscious. EMDR aims to desensitize, relieve and resolve unconscious memories associated with these emotions that interfere with one’s relationships, feelings about oneself and quality of life.

 

EMDR CONSULTATION

As an Approved EMDRIA Consultant I provide this service to EMDR Practitioners working towards their own certification or those wanting consultation generally.

 

TRAUMA RESOURCING MODEL

TRM helps clients understand the biology of traumatic stress reactions and learn specific skills to return the body, mind, and spirit back to balance..  It is a somatic approach for regulating and integrating chronic distress from traumatic events, big and small, that derails the ability to live life resiliently.

FLASH TECHNIQUE

This is a fairly simple technique used as a precursor to standard EMDR.  Memory-related distresses are either reduced or eliminated completely with memory reconsolidation.  When the memory of a distressing event is retrieved and activated, corrective information is introduced repeatedly.  The brain quickly processes the new information unconsciously and a distressing event is corrected with an entirely different perspective of the event resulting.  Consequently, the previous behaviors or thoughts affected by the event no longer remain.

 

MEDITATION

Meditation has been generally accepted today in the medical world as a means of alleviating stress, lowering blood pressure, heart rate, anxiety levels and as a means towards general well-being.  Furthermore, it’s a means of learning to control one’s thoughts instead of allowing those thoughts to be in control.

 

TELE-THERAPY

I offer teletherapy sessions with clients in California and New York states as well as in Canada and Europe.
